Observations of sunspots recorded




DATE 19 April 1739, Professor of Mathematics and natural sciences from Universitas Harvard, USA, John Winthrop, noting pengamatanya about sunspots.
           Winthrop wrote, he was walking when the sun would set. Amid a hazy weather he could watch the sun and see with the naked eye, great and marvelous spots on the sun. The shape is oval and elongated perpendicular to the horizon. winthrop observation for a few minutes before the sun completely - completely submerged.
         Observations continued for two days later, but it was almost impossible to be done on the 21 april due to cloudy weather. Observations to record a one-page report stored in the archives of Universitas Harvard, though never officially published. Winthrop is also known as an observer to the phenomenon of Venus across the sun melali eksperdisi to St. John's, New Foundland. It allows the observer to calculate the distance between the sun and the earth.
